How Super Eagles Stars Performed In Chelsea, Arsenal Stalemate
Super Eagles stars, Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses clashed in the Premier League on Sunday, September 17 when Chelsea hosted Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Iwobi and Moses were on the starting XI of Arsenal and Chelsea respectively for the game that ended goalless.
We look at how they played in the game
Alex Iwobi
Iwobi had his first start for Arsenal in the Premier League this season, playing as an attacking midfielder in front of Alexandre Lacazette in a 3-4-2-1 formation.
The youngster was impressive in the game, forming a mobile and defensive unit at the front for Arsenal along with Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey. They defended from the front, protecting Arsenal’s defensive midfield and ultimately their defence.
Iwobi also caused lots of troubles to the Chelsea defence with his passes, nimble feet and mobility. He played a weighted pass to Hector Bellerin whose cross met Welbeck’s head but went off Curtois' goal. He also held on to the ball before playing on Ramsey who drove into the Chelsea box but his effort hit the post.
Iwobi’s display was even more encouraging that it came at a time when he was low on confidence. He has played in just one league game this season, a 12-minute cameo in the 1-0 loss away at Stoke City.
His first start of the season wasn’t that impressive either, labouring in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Cologne in the Europa League before he was substituted.
