Mr. 2Kay Slams Eko Hotel With N500m Lawsuit Over Violent Robbery
Mr. 2Kay has slammed the management of Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, with a N500 million lawsuit over his robbery experience at the hotel last month.
According to LIB, sources close to the singer said the singer has sworn to pursue the case against the hotel which has yet to produce the culprits responsible for the attack, and that the amount he is seeking in damages is expected to also cover for all the valuables he lost and his hospital bill.
Recall that the singer was robbed at gun point in his hotel room last month by assailants he mistook for room services. In the statement released by his management company, Grafton Records, the robbers, numbering four, “forced their way into his room and waved a gun with threats to shoot him if he made a noise”. Then they proceeded to tie his arms, legs and mouth during the robbery, and before they fled the scene, they cut off intercom from the room.
Mr. 2Kay, who was in the room with a friend, struggled with one of the robbers, as the others punched and hit him with a gun, repeatedly warning that they will shoot if he doesn’t calm down. One of the robbers led and locked 2Kay’s friend in the bathroom.
Some of the properties Mr. 2Kay reportedly lost included jewelry, clothes, perfumes, phones, and money.
It has been more than two weeks since the robbery and the culprits have yet to be apprehended, hence why the singer is suing the hotel and seeking N500 million in damages.
“Mr. 2Kay has vowed to to follow this lawsuit all the way, and he will not rest until he is fully compensated for his loss and damages,” said the source close to the singer.
