Henry arrived in Lagos on Sunday, December 17, 2017 on a two-day visit sponsored by an alcoholic beverage brand.

At an event on Sunday, the Arsenal legend was installed as the ‘Igwe’ in reference to the name he has been fondly called by Nigerians since his playing days for Arsenal in the Premier League.

The former France striker became very popular among Nigerians during his time at Arsenal where he won two Premier League and two FA Cup titles.

A proven goal-scorer in the Premier League, Nigerians started calling the former striker 'Igwe' (an Igbo word for King) which also translates to King in English.

After receiving the title, Henry revealed that Kanu Nwankwo, his one-time teammate at Arsenal never told him that they call him Igwe in Nigeria.
